At our clinic, your primary care provider (PCP) is your first point of contact for all your health needs. Sometimes, you may need care from a specialist — like a cardiologist for heart health, a dermatologist for skin concerns, or an orthopedist for joint pain. Here’s how the process works depending on your insurance plan:

🏥 If You Have an HMO Plan
Your PCP guides the process: In an HMO, your primary care provider coordinates your care.

Referral required: Before you see a specialist, your PCP will provide a referral to an in-network doctor.

Why this matters: This ensures your care is organized, covered by your insurance, and tailored to your needs.

What you do: Simply schedule an appointment with your PCP first — we’ll handle the referral paperwork for you.

🏥 If You Have a PPO Plan
More flexibility: PPO plans usually allow you to see specialists without a referral.

In-network savings: You’ll save money by choosing specialists within your PPO network.

Out-of-network option: You can still see doctors outside the network, but your costs may be higher.

What you do: You can book directly with a specialist, though many patients still prefer to consult their PCP first for guidance.
